Shortridge Opens Its Doors to Prospective Students and Parents
On Wednesday April 18th from 5 to 7pm, Shortridge Magnet High School for Law and Public Policy will hold an open house for students interested in attending in 2012-2013 school year. This open house is open to incoming 6th, 7th, 8th,9th and 10th grade students.
District Breaks Ground on New Blue Devil Gymnasium

A new three thousand seat gymnasium will soon take up residency where a once vacent apartment building once stood on the Shortridge grounds. The new facility, slated to begin construction next month, will be finished in time for the start of the 2012-2013 Blue Devil basketball season to begin.
New Track and Soccer Field Dedicated

Last Saturday Blue Devils both old and new witnessed the dedication of the new Shortridge track and soccer field. Included in the finished product is an 8 lane competition track, new bleachers, and underground sprinkler system and a beautifully manicured soccer field.
IPS Superintendent Eugene White was on hand for the dedication which included performances by the Shortridge Marching Band, and a soccer match between the Ridge and Liberty Christian.
Madeleine Albright Talks Pins and Diplomacy at the Ridge

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright visited Shortridge and spoke with the entire student body last Friday. Dr. Albright spent an hour discussing her pins, which are currently on display at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, as well as her political experiances, including serving as a cabinet member in the Clinton Administration.
Mayor Ballard Visits

To help kick off fund raising efforts for local food banks, Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard and Deputy Mayor and Shortridge Alum, Olgen Williams visited The Ridge and addressed students.
Other visitors included Indianapolis Colts Vice President Tom Zupanzic, Pacers President Jim Morris, Mike Henn from the Indianapolis Ice, along with mascots from the Pacers, Indians and Ice.
Construction Continues on New Track and Soccer Field

Pillars for the new wrought iron fence are now in place and curbing is going to start giving the new Shortridge Soccer and Track facility a recognizable shape.
Workers have been busy putting the new sprinkler and irrigation system in place while earth movers have been putting the base for the new 8 lane track in. Also being built is a pump house, which will contain the equipment for the irrigation/sprinkler system.
Steve Papesh, athletic director expects to have seed on the field this month and be able to host games begining August 1st of 2011.
